Sophia Hannafin

I have worked with learners from ages 3-16 for 9 years, and my experience includes teaching enrichment courses in writing and tutoring in a variety of areas, including spelling, grammar, reading, and writing. I have also worked teaching English as a Second Language online.

I completed a Bachelor's degree in English Literature with a minor in Anthropology. This degree has equipped me with a number of skills, including critical thinking, essay writing, and creative writing. These skills will help me to communicate with students at all levels. I also completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in visual arts at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College, where I explored different mediums such as drawing, sculpture, and performance art. During this period, drawing and sculpture were a major focus.

In my spare time, I am a bookworm who loves listening to audiobooks or reading books. I am also very adventurous; I have gone skiing on some of the great Canadian slopes on the east side!

I’m Sophia, an international English educator with over six years of teaching experience with children, teenagers, and adults.

I have taught English both online and in-person across Europe and Asia, working with students from a variety of cultural and language backgrounds. My experience includes English, phonics, literacy, speaking, writing, and creative activities.

I’m passionate about making lessons engaging, interactive, and tailored to each student. I enjoy using games, discussions, creative activities, and students’ interests to build confidence and make learning enjoyable.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Languages, specialising in German and Spanish, a TESOL Certificate, and a PGCE. Outside of teaching, I enjoy travelling, learning languages, exploring different cultures, reading, and spending time outdoors.

If you are warm, engaging, or love being around kids or teens, this is the right spot. Minimum prep is required for classes, as most materials are provided, but tracking student performance will be mandatory for the purposes of curriculum development.

All teachers must be located in Canada or the USA.
